I recently had to write an essay to join a SciFi-SpecFic writers group:

A fledgling SciFi/SpecFic writer. Learning the craft of disciplined writing.
Since my youth, I drank deeply of Lewis, Williams, Sayers, Tolkien, Clarke, Bradbury, Bear, L’Engle, Stapledon, Blish.
The Scriptures are the best of stories.
Recent years, dangled from the branches of Lawhead, Chang, Stevenson, Sclazi, Brin.
I’ve got a totally mind-blowing answer to the Fermi Paradox. Story to follow…
Watch too many movies. CE3K, Interstellar, chronic Star Trek.
Listen to my music way too loud. U2, Delirious, Radiohead, JarsofClay. Phil Keaggy.
Coffee may be one of God’s finer creations.
Sci-fi/SpecFic gives us a platform to gaze deep into the heart and spirits of men and women to set up mirrors and road-signs. Prophetic. Hopefully, becomes the ‘this-won’t happen’ so better can happen.
Learning to write from a place of love in the face of reality.
We are all spirits banging around in a material world, looking for home. I want to leave very large bread-crumbs and a canteen of water to get there.

Heaven is our real home, we are all our real family. Anything less or else is hell.
