Every communication device on Earth… home phone, cell phone, blackberry, iPhone… wouldn’t stop ringing until answered.
“What the hell…”
When answered, a soft, gender-neutral voice said, “please hold for the last lecture”. Then music. Not just any music; a chordy, wobbly, tonal music that any astrophysicist would recognize as the song that the Universe sings around humanity all the time, undetected by human ears. The music of the Spheres.
At the same time, across the globe, every type of screen… tablet, television, computer screen, sporting event jumbo-tron… suddenly showed a graphic of the planet earth slowly rotating from an orbital perspective. Once again, a trained eye would realize this to be a ‘live shot’ of Earth from space. Within a few minutes, ethereal music now filled the air… everywhere around the world.
Any attempt to turn off or use the devices otherwise failed: nearly everyone on the planet tried to over-ride, and failed. A collective vocal roar of disapproval and profanity arose from the frustrated global humanity at having their mobile devices overtaken. The collective rancor became so loud, it was heard well past the moon.
Lastly, un-answered devices merely came on by themselves, even if there was no power supply or battery. Every electronic device on earth… the entire techno-human umbilical cord… was pulsing, fully active and ready…
“…please hold for… “
People in public places began to realize that their neighbors’ devices were also completely over-taken with the same thing. There was an emerging global realization that everyone was about to experience…
an event sociologique…
“…the last lecture”
(ethereal music)…
