Peeling Apart Confusion
These two terms get confused a great deal…
Sentience or Sentient [definition] is the ability to perceive, feel, or experience sensations.
Sapience or Sapient [definition] refers to higher cognitive functions, such as [minimum] human-level reasoning, self-awareness, and complex thought.
OTHER SAPIENTS AND SENTIENTS

As we move towards ‘Alien Disclosure 2026’, the question for Christians has never […never!] been ‘are we alone in this Universe?’
Of course not!

Humans, from the initial Creation [Genesis Ch 1-3] to present day, have always shared a created universe with a number of other sentient and sapient beings.
God!
HE Is, always Has Been, and always Will Be.
Before anything ever existed or was created by Him, YHWH the great I AM has… been.
HE has always been fully sapient and sentient.
OTHERS
Before the Genesis Chapter 1 account, God created… other beings and people and races.
In the ‘early Genesis’ chapters, God created humanity.
Firstly, when God created humans [as recorded in Scripture], HE was already there.
NO, we’ve never been alone!
THEN… Scripture quickly describes humans as having been created in the middle of a moving story where there already existed a number of species beyond the [non-sentient, non-sapient] animal life created on Earth by God.
Other sentient and sapient species.
No, we have NEVER been alone.
TAKE-AWAY:
Yes, species [plural].
The Bible tells us so.
